My Hair Regimen

I’ve been natural for 3.25 years now. I never did a Big Chop. I have a mix of 3b and 3c hair in the front and some 2C in the back.

I honestly don’t have a step-by-step “go to” hair regimen. it’s a mix between knowing what products have worked best for my hair and how i am feeling that day. some days my hair looks great, and some days it’s a mess — and all within the same regimen. but here are my staple steps:

I shampoo my hair with Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo every other Sunday once or twice a month to wash out product buildup. Every 2-3 days i co-wash my hair with Herbal Essence’s Hello Hydration Conditioner. when i rinse it out, I leave a little bit in as a leave in conditioner. When i get out of the shower, i spray my hair with a spray bottle filled with peppermint oil, rosewater, distilled water, shea butter, aloe vera, grapeseed oil and any leftover hair product i don’t use (which i am sure, like me, you have a cabinet full of). I work in aloe vera juice to seal in moisture, paying special attention to my ends. I then coat Shea Moisture’s Deep Treatment Masque over my hair. I use this as a curl moisturizer/enhancer. I used to use Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie but it wasn’t heavy enough for my hair. (i do use it in between washes though.) Using the masque as a curl cream/enhancer/moisturizer as opposed to just a deep conditioning treatment has eliminated the need for me to: 1) have to do a deep condition every week 2) use coconut oil. I found coconut oil effective but messy and time consuming because it solidifies and then you gotta heat it up and blah blah blah. 3)spend money on more products because the deep conditioning masque controls my really, dry, frizzy hair and allows for more definition which equals less curl definer and moisturizer the next day. And lastly, i use Kinky Curly’s Curling Custard for definition.  i follow it all up with a few spritzs of Shea Moisture’s Hold & Shine Moisture Mist; which gives my hair a nice shine

So there you go, the lazy girls guide to luscious natural curls. in between washes i use the spray bottle mentioned above, Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Kinky Curly’s Curling Custard. spray, rub in and GO!

EDIT: I also love to use Camille Rose Algae Conditioner in place of Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque sometimes. It’s great in Winter when my hair is extra dry.
